William J. Ziegler is a graduate of Yale Law School, where he received his degree in 1967. He also obtained an M.A. in 1962 and a Ph.D in Philosophy in 1969 from the University of Notre Dame where he wrote his dissertation on the legal and political theories of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. Mr. Ziegler began his practice in 1967 with the law firm of Graham & James in San Francisco, specializing in condominium law and real estate development. In 1971 Bill qualified with the Department of Real Estate for the first real estate time share project approved by the State of California. Since that time he has been active in the areas of environmental law, resort properties, public and private offerings of real property, and state, regional, and local regulation of real estate. Mr. Ziegler has handled major litigation while representing clients with issues ranging from the California public trust doctrine to vested rights issues and inverse condemnation. He continues to represent holders of significant real estate projects and partnerships who operate commercial, residential, office and industrial properties, and consequently he advises clients regarding leasing, sales, hazardous waste, governmental regulation and other issues attendant to real estate ownership. He has extensive experience in waterfront developments and sensitive land use projects and appears frequently before various commissions and boards in connection with permit applications. |
